Dr. Rosana Barbosa, PhD

Rosana Barbosa, is a Professor in the History Department at Saint Mary’s University. She completed her BA at Universidade Santa Úrsula in her hometown of Rio de Janeiro. Her MA and PhD are from the University of Toronto. Her research focus on migration and on the historical links between Brazil and Canada.

Current research: Soccer and Racism: The Beginnings of Futebol in São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro, 1895-1933

Upcoming project: The lived experience of Brazilians in Canada and their families in Brazil during the Covid-19 pandemic. Co-investigator (Dr. Margareth S. Zanchetta, Principal Investigator, Ryerson University).
