Melanie C. Smith, PhD (c)

Melanie C. Smith is a Phd Candidate in sociology at Dalhousie University. Her main research interests are gender and migration. Her research interests center on issues affecting Belizean women, particularly their position within the family and society. Her current research looks at transnational households and care.  

In her home country Belize, Melanie works as a Lecturer at the University of Belize. She has contributed to several consultancy teams and technical working groups working on national development issues in Belize. Melanie has contributed to several major works on migration in the Central American and Caribbean region as well as the Regional Conference on Migration as a member of the Regional Network of Civil Society Organizations on Migration (RROCM).
