Dr. Alexandra Dobrowolsky, PhD

Alexandra Dobrowolsky is a Professor, former Chair, and currently the Acting Chair, of the Department of Political Science at Saint Mary’s University. She has also served as Adjunct Professor in the Faculty of Graduate Studies at Dalhousie University, serving on a doctoral thesis committee for the Schulich School of Law. Her research revolves around issues of citizenship and representation broadly conceived, and encompasses topics that include: constitutional mobilization, equality and diversity, social policy, security, as well as immigration policy and politics. Her work appears in an array of national and international journals, and she has written, edited and co-edited six books. She was a co-editor of, and contributor to, the first ever special issue of the Canadian Journal of Political Science devoted to showcasing feminist research. Her most recent research delves into two interrelated concerns: public engagement of marginalized communities, and feminist governance through an intersectional lens.
